Our Automatic Weather Stations incorporate an innovative wind velocity and direction sensor that detects Thermal Aura Variation (TAV) caused by the wind flowing past a heated cylinder. This technology is known since the years 1900 for the measurement of fluid streams. The merit of ELBW wind sensors reside in the aerodynamics’ shape for the construction of the sensors’ upper parts.

The ELBW wind sensor uses a micro-controller for all the necessary calculations and compensations in the measurement of the wind speed and direction. The ambient air temperature and the barometric pressure are important in the compensation for altitude variation.
